The snow has reached Oxfordshire! This morning I was at the bus stop with some language students who had never seen snow before, which was quite sweet.

Still, I cannot believe it has snowed in November. It's not even Christmas yet. It's not even the month of Christmas! Remember when the idea of a White Christmas in England seemed like a ridiculous Victorian fantasy? Granted it's not that deep, but it's deep FOR NOVEMBER.

Since it is snowing in Autumn, I fully expect it to get worse from here on in which is an excellent excuse to stop hemming and hawing and buy some expensive but allegedly durable boots I've been eying for a while. I do love them. And I did get a tax rebate that mostly covers them. It is more money than I've spent on one pair of shoes ever, and on shoes at all in the past few years, but I am hoping it will be an investment. My shoe stinginess is probably why I have practically no wearable shoes, but a damp pile of crumbling, peeling, vaguely foot shaped bits of faux leather and extremely cold toes. If the UK is a snow country now, I have got to shape up.

Even this leaves the question of purple or brown. Brown will go with more stuff, but most of my clothes will go with purple. Brown is fleece lined for warmth, but the fleece only goes to the ankles, leaving the feet cold and unsnuggled. Plus, the purple lining is prettier. Purple is more unusual- you can almost always find some cool boots that Indiana Jones might wear if he was a women in brown, but purple? That comes along less often. The purple are also lower in the bestseller list, meaning they will be slightly unusual.

I think I sense a poll coming on.

Normally I'd be like YAY PURPLE, YAY COLOUR! but something about those brown ones is DELECTABLE.

This is part of my dilemma! In theory, I want purple. But the brown ones have the exact perfect shade of leather and ribbon and such a lovely texture. I am going to put one on each foot and walk about the shop for an annoyingly long time, I think.

I KEEP GOING BACK TO STARE AT THEM MYSELF. But they apparently do not have a size 7 in either the online store nor the Oxford St store so I guess my fleeting desire to spend money I don't really have on gorgeous boots has been effectively curbed :(

I KNOW. I am hoping that 6 fit me, because I tend to be a 6 or 7 and the 7s are in short supply. They are out of 7s on Amazon as well. I may have to go to Galway.

The two of them are both rotating in different tabs. Hypnotising me. Buy both! They say. You can barely afford one pair, but otherwise it's just not fair!

All the reviews say they are amazing! Apparently they are the best boots ever. One woman claims to sleep in them. Another wishes she wasn't already married. In the 104 reviews the black ones (yet another colour) have everyone except two people have given them five stars, and those two people gave them four and half.

LOL OMG THEY ARE MAGICAL BOOTS. I am totally going to the Oxford St store on sat on the offchance the 6s fit me too. Even though I should not be even thinking about spending OVER ONE HUNDRED POUNDS on shoes. :((((

GO FOR THE BROWN, THEREFORE IF I CANNOT HAVE THEM, I CAN LIVE THROUGH YOU.

When has anything ever got 102 five star reviews out of 104? NEVER. People usually comment to complain! Magic is the only answer.

At least when you are destitute and on the streets you will have good boots! They are apparently good for sleeping AND walking, so you are totally sorted.

Purple is pulling ahead!

I think the devotion you show to brown makes your vote count for more.

I'd get brown for myself, but you seem more like a purple.

I said purple, mainly cause purple is my favourite colour. But then again the brown ones are awesome too...

I love purple too! But I worry the purple may be too much boot for me. I think having one on each foot is my best shot at making a decision.

IF IT WERE ME I would get the brown, because I know I'd wear the purple a couple of times and be like "FUCK YEAH PURPLE BOOTS" but then I'd run out of things to wear them with and with I'd bought the more sensible colour. Not to mention the brown ones are HAWT.

BUT EITHER WAY, your feet are gonna look awesome. :)

Brown is always so chic. Purple is lovely, really lovely in fact looking at the picture again, but brown is just so stylish for boots.

I enjoy your stylish icon. :) That is why I have decided you used it, anyway. The brown are gorgeous. They have had a recent surge after lagging earlier in the day, and I think I am being swayed by it.

Oh my god, I want those DESPERATELY. *pines* Also, I say go for brown because I am boring and practical and brown WILL go with more things, much though I love purple. And as someone else who owns "a damp pile of crumbling, peeling, vaguely foot shaped bits of faux leather" in lieu of real shoes for the most part, I know from experience that it's more important to get the basics before you get faaancy. So, brown. XD

Aren't they lovely? And they have SO many good reviews, seriously. The black version is almost all five stars even though it has 104 reviews. Either way I am excited, but I am getting swayed to brown... you are right that I need the basics!

Relatedly, how are YOU feeling about YOUR recently purchased boots? I seem to recall you making a similar decision to invest in winter footwear.

SO JEALOUS. I don't even know where I'd buy those here! SIIIGH. (So glad you went for brown. XD *fistpump*)

I love them, omg. I've worn them almost every day for the last three weeks, and they've stood up in snow and rain juuust fine, AND are awesomely cute. (I kind of think of them as my space boots. *sheepsih grin*) They were definitely worth it, even on the off-chance they don't last more than a season, because they make my feet HAPPY.

I am also glad! In the shop, brown was superior, and your words most wise.

I love that you call them your spaceboots! I really see it as well. I think of these as my adventurer boots. They can totally ford a river, climb some rocks, tromp through undergrowth and kick through a snowdrift. While looking good.

Wait, my bad. I see pictures now. I think I'm going to have to go with brown...it will go with more, but that's just my choice. If you're a purple boots kind of gal, then go for it!

Given how much I now love my new £100 boots (I did go for the brown!) I am now much less skeptical of expensive shoes. Perhaps £200 will be twice as good?
